MONK

Have you all done any label reading lately? Seems there’s been lots of chatter about “Probiotic” or ‘healthy bugs’, which are now finding their way into our more popular food items. Remember opening that container of probiotic enriched yogurt for the first time?… I’ll be honest… I checked for eyeballs staring back in mine. Now, I’m all for a healthy diet, but I’m curious if everyone is on board with the idea? ‘Probioticphobia’…that could be one on Adrian Monk’s list.

MAID LIBRARY CANDLE

A good rule of thumb for the novice domestic is don’t bother dusting where folks can’t see. My swiffer duster was maneuvering at a maddening pace when it caught the spoke of a wrought iron candle stick perched upon a very high shelf. The first tug from the end of my extended arms reach produced nothing. The second tug spiraled a pillar candle downward towards the bridge of my nose. After a trip to the ER, a concerning CT scan sequestered me to a hospital peekaboo pajama sleep over. Luckily, I have a cast iron shnozola, and was able to spring the coop the next day. I have a follow up appointment in a few weeks to check on those little fellers who spin my brain’s gears. I’ll keep you all posted…

I’m banking on that old wife’s tale that if you share a nightmare, it won’t come back. Remember a few weeks ago, the Sunday night of the Tony Awards? My itchy finger made quick work on the remote, flipping from live musical numbers like Disneys’ “Mary Poppins”, to Mel Brooks’ classic “Young Frankenstein”, to Dreamworks’ original “Shrek”. I must of started dozing at one point to have seen smack dab in the middle of my jiffy pop these twisted apparitions of my late night channel surfing. It took vigorous head shaking to rid me of this ugly scene.

Design talent and graphics compadre Julie Johnston contacted me with this concept for Micki and Fred Schumacher’s Bed and Breakfast in lovely Millinocket, Maine. The Young House contains 5 unique cozy rooms, with queen size beds, private baths & televisions and is conveniently located in the Center of Millinocket close to restaurants, shopping and galleries. The Moose turn-down bed service is optional (due to his tendencies towards pilfering pillow mints and hoggin’ the comforter.)

Thankee to all who blogged and, to those who used appreciated discretion, emailed captions for consideration. After great debate and painstaking processes of elimination (one potato, two potato), a victor has emerged. Well, the winning caption has emerged: Should I sip it, or Skin it???. The author seems reluctant with his identity. Either that, or he’s avoiding public knowledge of having associations with me. Take a scamper down to the blog entry 3/20/07 for contest high notes and enjoy the release of Disney’s POTC 3, but don’t be blabbin’ the good parts- it ruins the fun for us cinema slowpokes.

Nothing circumvents the inevitable creative blank slate for an artist like a stint at the happiest spot on earth. Lucky for Florida folks (all 18 million of us) such bliss is nary a car ride away. Seems Mickey and the crew has been up to a downtown overhaul at the World of Disney store with the additions of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the room of Pirates treasure. The Marketplace was dotted with tiny princesses of all Disney persuasions and miniature pirates with prized, mouse eared merchandise booty in tow.

The design muscle of my brain has been flexing overtime on projects these past few weeks. To increase maximum performance, I’ve been feeding it a steady diet of remixed retro classics: Shirley Bassey, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, and Eartha Kitt. The cartoonist cortex managed to doodled this diva during the client calls and design edits. Apparently, it was inspired by these great ladies, too.
